Washington, DC

I lived in northern Virginia for 25 years and I was born in Washington DC. I love visiting this area full of history. I also appreciate
this area a lot more since I've been gone...

We flew United and we were on a huge plane, 767. When I first moved to Denver in 1997, I always flew United. They served Happy Meals
for Ariana, and I able to view the flights by airplane size. I always use to select the largest plane available, since they seem to be more
comfortable during take off and landings, especially for a flight sensitive person, like myself. Now, I'm much more open about flying, since
I have been doing it more, and the prices have really gone up (I'm not so picky)!

We had lunch with a friend of my mum's the second day we were in town. It was good conversation and good food!

Ah yes, we drove into Washington, DC so I could take a picture of the famous staircase from the
Exorcist movie (the original, of course).

We went downtown and parked near the old Ford Theatre, which is currently being remodeled.

On the night of April 14, 1865, President Lincoln was shot in Ford's Theatre by John Wilkes Booth. He died the next day in a boarding house
located across the street. This gentle man, who abhorred violence, had presided over four years of civil war and had then become a victim of
violence himself.

This was my great uncle's license plate from way back....yes, that is a jersey plate, although he lived in Philly for years...

The family, left to right: Ariana, dad, mom, my brother Bryan, and me. Also the newest addition, a rescue poodle named Wesley
(otherwise known as puppy).

We took a tour of the capitol today! Bryan gets to visit these places all the time for work, but he enjoyed
being tourists today with the family.

The beauty of the dome of the capitol...

More DC...
